The immediate relief around Demir Kapija has a special place in the development of tourism. The relief features at this region of the Tikvesh are extraordinary elements for tourist attraction, such as the Demir Kapija gorge, the rarely beautiful walls, the canyons of the Iberli river that flow into the river Vardar in the gorge itself, then the opening of the tunnel created by the canyon of the Iberli River . The beauties of the gorge represent a special attraction for tourists and passers-by who admire the creation of nature.
The gorge is about 19 km long and is located between the Tikvesh valley in the northwest and Boyjia on the southeast. The sides are built of blue shales, which lay layers of blue lime with Mesozoic old age. They are up to 1000 m high. and are very steep.
A special element for tourism development is the natural rarities of this region, that is, the speleological natural phenomena – caves, created in the limestone masses of the Demir Kapija gorge. More caves are known, which are larger and more important are Bela voda and Gornji and Dolni Zmajovec.
Cave Bela Voda is located along the old road to Gevgelija. The total length of the cave canals is 955 m. The bottom of the lower channel gradually rises, in places it extends into galleries, and somewhere there are ruined rocks from the ceiling, which separates it from the upper canal. The upper channel in some places has cave jewelry. The lower channel is young in its own way and there are sands on the bottom, indicating a temporary flow of water through the cave. At the end of the canal lies Margaret Lake with a diameter of 8 x 12 meters and a different depth from 4 to 8 m.
Zmeyovec Cave is composed of two parts: the one part is larger with a length of 150 m. and has a round shape and the other is smaller and has 40 m. The cave is rich in decorative objects: drapes, stalactites and stalagmites, which can be compared with the Postojna jama in Slovenia. The Zmajovec’s giant is large, but it’s two and a half miles away on foot
Three important rivers pass through the municipality of Demir Kapija. These are: Vardar with a length in the municipality of 24 km., Doshnica with length of 18 km. and Boshava with a length in the municipality of 15 km.
The coastline of the Boshava River is a wonderful ecosystem. It is rich in rich flora and fauna in which the autochthonous tree species Javor Plato prevails.
Starting from Demir Kapija along the coast of the Boshava River to the site Doshnica is a wonderful place for recreation, where visitors can enjoy the indigenous natural beauties.
